The chestnut is a tree found in hilly and mountainous areas (up to an altitude of 900 meters) and is part of mixed or pure forests. It is a fast growing and long-living tree from whose trunk many saplings grow ensuring a constant and guaranteed production.
Copses are maintained in the forests often and so they offer the ideal wood for posts. The wood is brown, elastic, resistant, of average hardness and contains a discreet quantity of tannin which makes it long-lasting and resistant.
The chestnut posts can be used for fences, containment barriers, compact barricades, and are especially suited to damp areas or areas near water – chestnut wood lasts a long time without rotting or deteriorating.
